EOS Global Hackathon Africa Virtual
In the spirit of a truly Global EOS Hackathon, we’re excited to announce a virtual competition for the EOS Community in Africa. Winners of this event will be invited to join us and compete in the Grand Finale!
The Challenge: Create an application on the EOSIO platform that will create a global economic opportunity for Africa to improve the welfare of its communities.
Prizes
Three (3) winning teams from this virtual competition will be invited to join the Grand Finale in Cape Town and compete for the US $500,000 Grand Prize.
Judges
Serg Metelin
As Head of Developer Relations, Serg oversees the company’s continued support for the EOSIO developer community by raising awareness for new and existing developers and supporting projects being built on the EOSIO blockchain platform. Originally from the Ukraine, he was one of the early pioneers of social media applications for the Eastern European social network, vk.com, in which was responsible for building highly engaging applications with a total of more than 11 million users and up to 250,000 daily active users. Prior to joining Block.one, he worked with digital and marketing agencies and consultancies to deliver solutions for international brands such as Disney, Electronic Arts, Woolworths and others.

Brian Mehler
Brian Mehler joined Block.one in January 2018, coinciding with the launch of EOS VC business unit. Brian has spent 12 years in the private equity industry, focusing on investments in the financial and technology sectors and on distressed investment opportunities. Brian graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He recently relocated from New York to Hong Kong.
